This event is co-hosted by Alliance against Violence and Adversity (AVA)AVA is about creating the capacity to transform population (community) health and social services to promote health and wellness of girls, women, and gender-diverse people at risk/affected by violence and adversity over the life-cycle. This is accomplished through a collaborative, innovative, cross-sectoral/disciplinary/jurisdictional training platform as well as a Women's and Girls' Health Hub, two Indigenous Women's and Girls' Health Hubs and a newly funded research initiative, all united in the common objective to address the urgent issue of gender-based violence and improve outcomes for women, girls and gender-diverse people. Why is this issue so vitally important? For nearly 30 years, preventing and addressing violence against girls and women has been a policy priority across Canada, yet this social problem persists with family violence rates increasing and girls’, women’s, and gender-diverse people’s health and wellness outcomes worsening.
